![]() From a process point of view, it’s hard to see how it could be done any better. The process to fold and unfold this elliptical has been well thought through and it’s easy to see NordicTrack’s experience at work in the design with just two basic steps required to fold and unfold it. On this front, the Spacesaver SE7i isn’t perfect. Fail to make this process relatively simple and easy and quick, and after the first fortnight, it will be left in the open position forever, somewhat defeating the point of having the space-saving mechanism in the first place. The key thing, however, is how easy it is to get it into, and then back out of, its space-saving position. ![]() The real question is, does this design really save space in a practical way? Most, if not all, of the ellipticals that we’ve come across which are labelled as space-saving really do save space when they’re folded up and out of the way. After all, this product hasn’t been created in order to be looked at and appreciated for its artistic value. The people at NordicTrack have done their best to make this machine look modern and clean and it works to a degree but there’s little doubt that this is very much a function over form affair. Looks-wise the Spacesaver SE7i is, functional-looking. Predictably, our test model was a touch creaky until it was sitting completely flat but once it was properly levelled, predictably again, the small amount of creaking we experienced vanished completely and didn’t return during testing. Failure to properly do this last bit almost always results in this type of elliptical making unwanted noises so we’d strongly recommend checking that it’s completely flat before spending time and money calling the manufacturer. Once you’ve done this you’re essentially ready to go, although it’s always a good idea to make sure that the leg levellers are properly adjusted and the machine is sitting completely flat on the floor. Incredibly for a machine of this size, that really is it. Once out of the box it’s a case of fitting the front and rear stabilisers and then unfolding the cross trainer, adjusting the arms and locking everything into position. In fact, the hardest part about the setup is getting the box into the room where you want to set this elliptical up. ![]() Thankfully it turns out that there’s no need for concern as the Spacesaver SE7i is actually almost fully pre-assembled and requires hardly any effort to set up. The Spacesaver SE7i doesn’t look particularly space-saving when it first arrives! Whilst not as gigantic as some other models we’ve tested, the box itself is big enough to trigger a little assembly anxiety. We took a look at one of their mid-price ellipticals, the NordicTrack Spacesaver SE7i to see just what you’re getting at a sub-premium price point. A reasonable question to ask then is whether they’ve loaded it with features and gone large on the specs at the expense of the quality of the overall build. It’s also a very good bet that on paper at least the NordicTrack model/s you’re seeing will appear to have class-leading specs and more features and functions than its competitors, yet at similar prices. When researching your next elliptical it’s a near certainty that sooner or later you’ll come across a NordicTrack model. Best UK Price Specification Pros and Cons Reviewers Ratings

The opening line, “Blow into this paper bag,” evokes someone trying to manage feelings of panic, as breathing into a paper bag has long been upheld as a helpful technique for the hyperventilation that can happen during anxiety and panic attacks. Still, the lyrics emphasize the importance of remembering that others can’t defeat you and giving your “best shot” anyway. This song helps convey the pessimism that often accompanies anxiety, or the tendency to consider things through “cynical eyes.” Even when things are actually going pretty well, you might have trouble moving forward when anxiety leaves your hands “wet with sweat” and “your head needs a rest.” Rock “Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)” by Styx (But if you’re not sure what your symptoms mean, a therapist can offer more guidance.) You might even wonder, like Armstrong, whether it’s all in your head or if your mind is “playing tricks” on you. ![]() It’s not at all uncommon to struggle with anxiety for some time before you find a way to make sense of what you’re going through. Vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong has stated he wrote this song to cope with feelings of anxiety and panic he experienced before eventually receiving a diagnosis of panic disorder. If you turned on the radio once or twice in the late ’90s and early 2000s, you’ve probably heard this song before. When nervousness and worry rages inside to the point where you’re sure everyone can see it plainly on your face, you might be surprised to realize just how unruffled you seem to others. The lyrics “a fever above my waist” and “a chill that bends” might describe the sweating and chills that often accompany anxiety, while “you’re the fiercest calm I’ve been in” seems to address anxiety directly. “Concertina” by Tori AmosĪmos has explained in interviews that this song highlights her own experience with social anxiety, or walking into a room and feeling “so uncomfortable you’re crawling out of your skin, even though nobody’s touched you.” Various possibilities play out and seem to pass you by as you struggle to find a way to escape feelings of fear, panic, and despair. This song conveys the frustration you might face when you feel as if every choice you make is the wrong one. There’s no denying that anxiety can often leave you feeling isolated and lonely, especially when you get caught up in a cycle of worry and rumination. Maybe the worry and stress you experience leaves you with a “dull pain” that never seems to recede, or your brain sometimes feels like a closet where you’ve stashed videotapes of anxiety-inducing memories, or “sordid little scenes in living color.” “Map of the Problematique” by Muse You might often feel consumed by “the things you’ve got coming,” as John Darnielle sings. Living with anxiety often means grappling with fears of what the future holds. ![]() ![]() “The Young Thousands” by the Mountain Goats James Mercer has opened up about his own experience with anxiety when discussing this song in interviews, explaining that it describes the various anxieties that can slowly wear down a relationship. Sometimes it’s just a pressing fear you live with, a “fear of all the stupid things” you could feel. ![]() “The Fear” by The ShinsĪnxiety doesn’t always have a clear trigger. She touches on physical symptoms of fear: “I got a bowling ball in my stomach / I got a desert in my mouth / Figures that my courage would choose to sell out now.”īut it’s the refrain of “Why do we crucify ourselves” that brings to mind the endless analysis of looping anxious thoughts. The opening lines, “Every finger in the room is pointing at me,” might resonate if you’ve ever entered a room feeling self-conscious, only to feel as if a spotlight has suddenly snapped on to illuminate you further. Amos’ poetic, confessional lyrics are open to many interpretations, but if you have social anxiety, you may find plenty to identify with in “Crucify.” Tidal, on the other hand, doesn’t offer a free plan. It’s why your new M1 or M2 Mac probably needs a cleaner app, options for which we will discuss below. Instead, the memory is integrated into the same package that contains the chip.īecause of this you need to make sure you get enough memory when you buy your Mac because this memory cannot be upgraded. I think some of this comes from YouTubers who spread FUD about the swap file wearing out the ssd (even though Windows systems have used the swap file in a much more aggressive way for decades). There are apps for both Windows and MacOS that claim to optimise your system - they are just snake oil - at best they might clean up a few MB/GB of disk space by removing left over junk from the library folder or user profile (which you can do yourself for free if you know where to look), at worst, they might break your system or be spyware. I'm of the view that if your system really is running slow, then although it's a real pain, rather than spend time on all these rubbish apps that claim to 'fix' your system, you'll get much better results doing a clean OS reinstall and just installing only the apps you use. If it needs to swap out some pages to disk then it will do so. If memory becomes pressured (because something wants to actively use more memory) then the operating system will start by releasing caches and compressed pages automatically to make way for the demand. ![]() Then instead of asking why your memory usage seems high, you’d instead be asking why tasks keep disappearing unexpectedly on your machine - that would be much more annoying. Swap is normally only used as a last resort but it is still better to let the operating system swap out pages to disk and do the right thing by itself, because the only alternative is for the kernel to just start killing tasks that are taking up memory. If memory pages aren’t being used then the kernel compresses them in memory to free up space for new processes but still maintain some of the benefits of having fast memory access. If the operating system can keep things in memory (because nothing else is using the space) then it will do so, because memory accesses are much faster than having to pull things from the disk and this leads to a smoother user experience. The kernel knows what it is doing and you really shouldn’t interfere with it. No, it isn’t worth having something to “free your RAM” periodically. |
